All retrievers are not alike.

Quincy was the best!

For us there has only been one dog with the ideal qualities: unconditionally loving, very attentive and caring, affectionate, maternal, extremely intelligent, expressive, energetic, loyal, non-aggressive. Unfortunately she had one repelling vice, as many of you may remember...

She lived to be almost ten, and we miss her very much. Retrievers are wonderful dogs for some of us. We thought we knew what real dogs were all about, but we didn't have a clue about dog love's potential before Quincy came.

Chris, who is eight now, adjusted instantly to being the only dog. Actually I'm not sure he noticed she was gone, except that there is no one to muscle him out of prime begging position in the kitchen, no one to cut him out of the petting lineup, no one to squeeze out the door first, and no one to beat him to the best napping spots in the house. He is King Christopher now, and he is very mellow and loving. He is not very bright, but he is a sweetie. His manners have improved with more personalized training time. He is almost a gentleman.

Chris, bone, and grass

We realize, for us, having two dogs is too much. Two can't travel with you as easily. Our two couldn't really take neighborhood walks because of Chris' bad manners. Our two were so rowdy together, always egging each other on! Now Chris gets to go more and gets more exercise He is basking in the glow of his supreme position. He is the only dependent still living under our roof. That too makes a difference in his life.
