Biographical Information: Career background: In 1971, I returned to the University of Nebraska after spending four years in the United States Marine Corps. While in Viet Nam (1969), I became interested in the field of psychology. In 1972, I became a crisis intervention counselor at the University of Nebraska Student Health Center. From there my journey took me to Southern California for a Masters Degree at Chapman College and then to the University of Denver for my doctorate. I began working for the VA Medical Center in 1980 as the coordinator of the Chronic Pain Clinic. From 1989 to 1997, I was the Director of the PTSD Clinical Team. Our mission was to treat the under-served combat veteran suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. In 1998 we reorganized and blended the Team into the Mental Health Clinic. On June 1, 2006 I retired from the VA following a 30 year career of federal service. Before the VA, I worked for an organizational psychology consulting firm. Since leaving the VAMC, I have renewed my interest in consulting to organizations in the area of communication and conflict resolution and anger management.. Along with a couple of my associates, I have developed a workshop called "Resolving Conflict in the Workplace". Personal Interests: |
