Chris Lambert is a
guitarist and composer currently living in Denver, Colorado. Born in
Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Lambert has lived in New Jersey, California
and Illinois. While living in Chicago, he studied guitar under Aaron
Weistrop. He graduated high school from Loyola Academy in Wilmette,
Illinois.
While in
high school, he attended the summer Birch Creek Performing Arts Program in
Egg Harbor, Wisconsin. Before attending the University of Denver, Chris
was active in several bands around Chicago, primarily The Trips. In
Denver, Lambert received his B. Mus. with a focus in jazz guitar
performance. He has studied under Alan Joseph, Lynn Baker and Eric
Gunnison.
Chris
has performed in several combos and big bands during his time at DU. The
combos include but are not limited to the bebop, standards, fusion, and
vocal jazz combos and the University Jazz Ensemble big band. He is
currently a member of the funk and fusion band Ubuntu. He also has
experience as a private guitar teacher.
Lambert
has been a principal composer for his bands. Two of his compositions have
also been selected to be played by the Lamont faculty jazz band “The
Climb.” Among his influences on guitar are Mike Stern, John Scofield and
Bobby Broom.
