I have a bachelors degree in Physics from Beloit College, and I graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a Masters Degree in Library and Information Science. I am currently working at the Penrose Library of the University of Denver.
Projects and other things
- Submitted a webliography to ISTL concerning the International Year of Astronomy. Mandy Taha is the lead author on this project.
- Will host the first STELLA Unconference at DU in January, 2010.
- Submitted the paper "Comparing Bananas with Grapes: Ebook Use Data from a Bunch of Vendors" for the 9th Annual Brick and Click Symposium. It will take place November 6, 2009.
- Moderated an unconference session of the Opalescence online conference, Thursday, August 13 & Friday, August 14, 2009.
- Moderated the PAM-wide Roundtable at the 2009 SLA Conference in Washington, DC.
- Submitted the article "Collaborative Tools Used to Organize a Library Camp Unconference" to Collaborative Librarianship. The article is also posted to the RCLIS preprint server.
- Worked on the Library Camp of the West (also called a "Library Camp") with the LIS Program.
- Presenting something on Web 2.0 tools at the PAM-wide Roundtable at the 2008 SLA Conference in Seattle, in addition to moderating the PAM Newcomers Lunch.
- Rachel Hansen and I have an article written concerning chemistry journals and their cost per use. Here is the preprint. The title is "Local Evaluation of Chemistry Journals ".
- Wrote an article, "Scientific Sights of the Denver Area" (SLA members can login to see the article) which was part of a larger article "Discover Denver" in Information Outlook, 11(5):12-13. (May 2007). Here is a preprint of the article section.
- I was Chair and did the program planning for the Physics-Astronomy-Mathematics Division for the 2007 SLA Conference in Denver.
- Published an article (this is the preprint) with the title "Finding Chemistry Information using Google Scholar: A Comparison with Chemical Abstracts Service " (Michael Levine-Clark is the lead author) in Science and Technology Libraries 27(4):3-17.
- I wrote two chapters for the book, Research Within the Disciplines: Foundations for Reference and Library Instruction. They are "Research in the Sciences" and "Engineering Research". Here is the Amazon page for the book, and here is the catalog record for it.
- I presented a poster paper at the 2006 SLA conference in Baltimore. The title of it is "Academic Library Renovations: Main Libraries Compared to Science or Engineering Branch Libraries".
- This is my Summer 2005 article, "Comparing Journal Use Between Biology Faculty and Undergraduate Students," in the journal Issues in Science and Technology Librarianship.

- I moderated the Contributed Papers Session at the SLA Conference in Los Angeles, 2002.
- This is my article, "Astronomical Resources on the Internet," in the journal Issues in Science and Technology Librarianship.

- Presented a talk at the SLA Conference in San Antonio, 20001. The title is - "Standardized ISI Impact Factors Adjusted by Circulation Rates for Astronomy and Multidisciplinary Titles."
- Presented a poster paper at the ALA Conference in Chicago, 2000. The title is - 'Citation Analysis of Undergraduate Biology Department Honors Papers at the Univeristy of Denver'.

- I worked on a Web site concerning the Enola Gay dropping of the first atomic bomb. My section is about the scientific development of the atomic bomb. (The original server is down, so this points to the Way Back Machine archive.)
- I had an internship at the National Library of Medicine, working on the preservation of electronic media and equipment.
- I also worked at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center Library for a little stint in early 1995.
