Videotapes have been a popular medium for delivering distance education content to students for over 2 decades. But, Streaming interactive video over the Internet is not yet widely used for the delivery of distance education because of issues related to low bandwidth and the digital divide. The promise of Internet2 and other 4th generation technologies will increase the amount of online and interactive video used for distance education in the future.
