General
- The Ashmolean Museum: this excellent Oxford museum is better than the British Museum for the intelligent visitor, since it has not yet become a theme park for children.
- The Shefton Museum: don't miss this fine small museum if you are in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. It is west of Haymarket station on the Metro, at the University. The terracotta gorgon's head above is from Sicily, 550-500 BC, by kind permission of Newcastle University Department of Classics and the Shefton Museum. Click on it for Gorgon lore.
