After a few days driving from Guatemala to the Yucatán in 2001.  We were the first ones to make it  down a beach road washed out by hurricane Mitch in 1998... “you came down ‘that’ road!”

Learning how to fly in Guatemala after several weeks on the road with students and after doing community based research in less picturesque zones of Guatemala (i.e., Ixcán).

Or, no matter how tough you think you are, you end up crying!
