The journals listed below are ranked according to "impact factor," meaning the number of times they're cited, the inclusion of noteworthy scholars, and how well-recognized they are by scholars in the field (as you might imagine, the higher the ranking, the better for you in terms of job prospects, promotions, etc.). This is not a complete list but includes journals especially well-suited for students coming from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication program at the University of Colorado, which has a strong emphasis in critical theory, cultural studies, and innovative approaches to both policy and methods. Please let me know if you can add to this list.

The best thing to do if you'd like to pursue publishing in one of these journals - or others - is to go to the library and look through several issues of various journals, and select the one that has the kinds of topics and style of writing that you tend to embrace in your own scholarly efforts. The better the "match," the more likely you'll get published. Now, here's the list:
