This project is entitled "Identity: exploring typography and the self portrait".
The software tools we will utilize for this project are Adobe Illustrator CS4 or Inkscape (an open source vector based drawing program) and Photoshop CS4.
The purpose of this project is to simultaneously explore the concept of identity within your artwork and the study of typography within the discipline of design. We will be using the technique of arranging type, type design, and modifying type to create an self portrait using a scanned digital image as a base for the work. Equally important are your choice image, your choice of words, and your choice of type and type arrangement.
Please keep in mind:
- You have two full weeks to complete this project because the depth and detail required for a satisfactory completed piece involves quite a bit of work time.
-
The presentation of this project should reflect the amount of time and research that went into making the piece.
- Consider image size when creating this project, because the final piece will be a printed image larger than 8.5 x 11. Your image will need to either vector based or at minimum 300 dpi to be high enough quality for print.
